At Landson we produce products that reduces the pollution of air and water. Our products contribute to reaching the global goals for sustainable development, as they reduce pollution, require less energy, and can provide clean water and air to the people who need it the most. But it is not only the results of our products that ensures sustainable development, we as a company is also working intensively on making the product life cycle as sustainable as possible. Our goal is to make a product which makes the world cleaner, from production to end user and thereby improving the living conditions for all of us.

 
 

CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION 

Lack of water effects more than 40% of the world’s population. Landsons SiC membranes, can improve the water quality, and ensure safe and affordable drinking water for people around the world. Our SiC membranes can be used in wastewater treatment, desalination of sea water, safe reuse of rainwater, purification of storm water and it does it with a much higher water use efficiency than other membranes.

 
 

affordable and clean energy 

The consumption of electricity has increased significantly over the past decade, and people around the world are starting to experience a shortage of electricity, as we consume more electricity than we can produce. Lack of energy is becoming an increasing problem and that is why there is a focus on improving the energy efficiency.

Energy efficient membranes
Landson SiC membrane is an energy efficient membrane, which can produce the same amount of water at the same quality as any other membrane, but only using half the energy. Getting the same output for half the energy makes Landsons membranes more energy efficient than any other membrane on the market.

SiC component for Concentrated Solar Powerplants
Landson is also working on providing Silicon carbide components for concentrated solar powerplants. Concentrating solar power plants use mirrors to concentrate the sun's energy to drive a traditional steam turbine or engine that create electricity. The thermal energy concentrated in a CSP plant can be stored in Silicon Carbide components and used later to produce electricity when it is needed, day or night. The storage of the thermal energy thereby ensures a better usage of the energy produced and minimizes the energy waste.

Our products make the world cleaner, but that is not enough if we pollute the world when we produce it. So we have decided to re-think our production patterns and our supply chain, to make a more responsible consumption and a more sustainable production. This way, we can make a product that makes the world cleaner from factory to consumer.

Re-use of heat to be self-sufficient and to supply heat to private households
It requires a lot of energy to make a good quality of SiC filter, so the energy consumption can not be reduced, but it can help to reduce the use of other natural resources. Landson is working on re-using the heat from our furnaces to heat up our own factory, so we no longer will be using natural gas for heating. Even when we re-use the heat to heat up our own factory, we still have a lot of heat to spare. This heat will be sent to the local district heating facility where it can be used to heat up the water for 250 private households. Thereby reducing the local district heating facilities use of energy.

Re-using scraped silicon carbide material for grinding tools.
All silicon carbide filters that does not live up to Landson quality standard will be scaped. Silicon carbide is the hardest material be sides diamond, which makes SiC ideal for grinding tools and grinding discs. For that reason, Landson have made a corporation with a company who makes griding tools, to re-use our scrap SiC material for their grinding discs. This will not only minimize the produced amount of waste for Landson, it will also reduce the consumption of new grinding material for our partner company.

Choosing suppliers close to home with a green profile.
It is important to us to ensure a responsible and sustainable supply chain. To do that, we use suppliers close to home to minimize the Co2 footprint from transport. We also choose companies with a green production profile, who focused on using clean energy and reducing their Co2 footprint. Some of the product we use in our production requires a lot of energy to produce. That is why we have chosen Norwegian suppliers for these products, as they have a lot of clean energy produced by wind and water technologies and it is one of our neighbor countries.

 
 

LIFE BELOW WATER

70% of our planet is covered with water and we rely on it for food, water, and energy. Significantly reduce marine pollution from all kind of ships and generators on ships. Most of the pollution in the ocean comes from land by untreated wastewater, pollution from agriculture and plastic waste. By reducing the emissions from ships and purifying waste water we can help reducing the acidification in the ocean and help restore and protect ecosystems.
